Synopsis by the author/publisher
When the students in Mr. Gardner's third-grade class plant sunflowers for their class project, they use measurements for every step. Sarah even talks and signs to her sunflower to try to win the prize for the tallest plant.
“"Plant seedlings at least twenty-four inches apart," she reads. "My ruler only has twelve inches on it," says Kisha. "Move it twice," says Jamie. "Or count off on Mr. G's yardstick," says Mark. "Or we could just use this," says Sarah. She pulls something shiny out of her backpack. "My baton is two feet long. That's twenty-four inches."”
